Around the school

These photos have been taken within the school grounds.
The school comprises of a pleasing mixture of old and modern buildings set in beautiful, wooded grounds. Also please see the photographs in our Year 7 project area.

The Administration block is a Grade II Victorian listed building and the Reading Centre is housed in a converted chapel dating back to 1846.

A new Design Technology and Science block was opened in June 1996. A new gymnasium was also opened at this time. There are excellent facilities for sport and outdoor activities.

The library has recently been reburbished and has many new books, a PC with a scanner connected, also with Internet connection.

The Newman building was named after the Rev John Henry Newman (later Cardinal Newman) who founded the school in 1838. Years 7 and 8 are based in this building. This was also opened in June 1996.

This is the outside of the Hall. Music is also taught in this building. There is a strong commitment to the Arts at Lawn Upton and music, art and drama feature in the programme of extra curricular activities.
